United Furniture Industries plans to expand its Lexington, N.C., operations, according to the Salisbury Post.
United Furniture's expansion willl add 200 jobs at the plant, according to the Davidson County Economic Development Commission. The company's press release said the expansion is funded by the N.C. Department of Transportation, state legislators, and the company.
“The economic downturn has been devastating for North Carolina as it has for the rest of the country,” said Steve Googe, executive director of the Davidson Economic Development Commission. “We welcome the continued growth of United Furniture Industries in Lexington and Davidson County and see this as an endorsement and commitment that Davidson County and the Triad region’s furniture sector is on the comeback.”
