Stiles Machinery has made its Ironwood line of classical woodworking machinery available to purchase online via the company’s website, www.stilesmachinery.com.
Stiles launched the Ironwood equipment in 2010, targeting wood shops and elite craftsmen, who the company says prefer online ordering. Stiles anticipates that half of its total Ironwood orders will be placed online.
The new online ordering capabilities on Stiles' website allow visitors to specify which machine(s) they are interested in, view technical specifications, obtain pricing information including estimated shipping costs, and select machine accessories. The Ironwood line of equipment includes jointers, planers, shapers, boring machines, rip saws and cut off saws.
Q: We have a gang rip saw that we have trouble with. When the lumber is about halfway through, the piece travels away from the fence. The infeed has rollers that are at an angle so that the lumber is pushed against the fence. That seems to work well for the beginning of the pieces, but then it moves away from the fence. When we increase the feed roll pressure it seems like it might get worse. Any ideas?
