GrabCAD produces photorealistic images of Wermo customers' product sketches, like the table.
A furniture manufacturer is using GrabCAD's 48-hour service for visualizing its wood products. Wermo is a German wood furniture manufacturer selling most of the products to Nordic or German markets. Wermo is using crowdsourcing and software technology to bring together resources and requirements although they might not be physically in the same geographical location. From one side there are engineers who are unemployed or working with half capacity and on the other hand there are manufacturers who lack engineering capaciy.Wermo customers send their ideas, sketches of commodes, cabinets, shelves and showcase cabinets which they think would complement their assortment in shops, by email to Wermo.
Wermo’s head designer then checks the sketches and upload them to GrabCAD to order photorealistic images of these sketched ideas. GrabCAD does the work and delivers the images of the furniture in 48 hours to Wermo for forwarding them to customer for feedback. The 3D images allow the customer to understand how the idea will look like in reality and whether all the proportions of different elements are pleasing and would fit together with the selection of coatings. After approving the design, GrabCAD makes the technical drawings that Wermo can then use for manufacturing the furniture. GrabCAD response in 48 hours enables Wermo to shorten its sales cycle and accelerate the customer service process.
The photorealistic sketches are used by Wermo to create the final piece of furniture.
Before using GrabCAD, Wermo used to start with the product development after receiving sketches from customers. The process to create drawings, make prototypes, send photos for customer’s feedback always took many weeks. All in all the sequence of activities was inconvenient and stretching the sales cycle up to six weeks. Using GrabCAD cuts the sales cycle by two to three weeks.
