Release Date:
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry named 151 Regional Contractor of the Year winners from the 2012 competition.
Contractors from seven regions around the country compete for the annual CotY Awards, submitting improvement or addition construction projects for judging, as well as new construction projects in the Residential Exterior Specialty category.
The Universal Design Project Recognition Program was new to the 2012 competition to recognize entries meeting universal design standards for various project types. The Green Recognition Program was also part of this year's CotY Awards, recognizing projects that have "green" elements incorporated into them.
Competing projects were completed between July 1, 2010, and Nov. 30, 2011, and were not submitted in previous NARI National contests. A panel of judges selected winners based on each entrant's binders, which include "before and after" photography and project descriptions, in the areas of problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.
