Release Date:
Yorktowne Cabinetry will expand production at its Cane Creek Centre industrial park facility in Danville, Pa., in spring 2011 by closing its manufacturing plant in Red Lion, Pa., and moving manufacturing operations to the Ringgold, Va., plant.
Linda Carlisle, a spokeswoman for Yorktowne’s parent company, Elkay Wood Products, said the move will happen in phases through the spring and is scheduled to be completed June 24.
“Over the last two years, we’ve been concentrating our focus on best practices in the industry,” Carlisle said. “The efficiency gains allow us to bring this particular line over (to the Ringgold plant)."
About 110 of the Pennsylvania plant’s workers will be laid off as production moves to the Ringgold facility, according to Carlisle, and about 40 customer service, sales and other office employees will be moved to smaller offices in the Red Lion, Pa., area. The Pennsylvania operation will still process lumber for the cabinetry at its Mifflinburg mill, but will increase the amount shipped to the Ringgold plant for assembly, according to Carlisle.
