Furniture like this chair is being revived by artists to benefit charity.
A New York arts organization is calling upon on furniture artists to salvage their old items and transform them into pieces of art for their new 2012 fundraiser entitled “Salvaged Gems,” according to WaynePost.com.
Wayne County Council for the Arts (WCCA) said artists should take a before and after picture of their piece of furniture and let them know where they found the “gem.” Artists are encouraged to use any possible artistic medium and to be as creative as possible.
All the proceeds for the sale are going to support programs in the community. The items will be sold at a silent auction held on July 15.
Anyone who participates can submit more than one piece, if desired. WCCA announced that pieces should be delivered to them by Saturday, July 7. They ask that artists create a tag for their piece describing the medium used, name, address, telephone number and email.
