The Hardwood Forestry Fund is reaching out to the woodworking industry asking for 80 companies to make a tax-deductible donation of $500, though any size donation is welcomed. The funds will be used for seven tree planting project proposals to begin in spring 2010.
These projects total $40,000 for more than 100,000 new trees. Collectively the projects will improve 200 acres and established productive forests of red oak, white oak, black cherry, black walnut, butternut, sugar maple, basswood, hickory and other hardwoods valuable to the woodworking industry and for wildlife purposes.
